Sky’s Story

My Father is Nigerian, originally born in London. But moved back to Nigeria on the premise of a false holiday that was supposed to be a month which turned into 18 years. He met my mother, who is from Japan, through a mutual friend. I have always felt like London is my home as I was brought up here. But travelling with my mum and facing British immigration with her made me realise that our experiences where completely different. The family doctor was willing to to treat myself and my father (British citizens) but not my mother. She always complained of being alone but she still felt like England was her home more than Japan. I am half of her. And through her experience I feel like my whole view of my home, London, has changed. And now I have no home.
