Olivia and Lauren’s Story
We both immigrated to the UK from the United States. Immigration is often defined by an overcoming of obstacles or the fight of a minority’s against the tyranny of majority. As people not specifically apart of the oppressed we often question our claim to the title of immigrant. Do I have claim to the titles and stories confined within this exhibition if I do not share the pains of colonialism, if I do not face the world as a person of colour, if even now as I sit in this room it is unknown to many that I am an immigrant at all. Can I too cami that experience.
