Jane’s Story

I was born in Abeokuta, Nigeria in 1965. I left in 1967 at the start of the Biafran war, we fled a very dangerous situation. My parents saw many people killed. I came back to the UK on the SS Accra. Leaving my father who was too sick to travel at the time, to follow later. This January (2019) I went back to Abeokuta for the first time in 50 years and fell in love with the most astonishing country. Perhaps I really do have the water of the Ogun in my veins.
