Michael’s Story

My family and I are Americans and middle class, so people don’t think of us as immigrants, but we are. My son was teased for his accent on the first day of school. Someone said to the person teasing that you shouldn’t tease him because he’s American. As if it’s okay to tease other immigrants for their accents! We’re also Jewish, and RE in school is sometimes embarrassing. Many of his friends don’t know about his religion because he is afraid to tell them. Brexit is making all these problems worse.
