Nasteha’s Story

My parents fled a civil war from Somalia in 1990 and settled in the UK as asylum seekers in the late 90’s. My parents lived accomplished lives prior to the war with my mum being a secretary to a Government minister and my father having just finished a degree is political science and international relations. They always did say that nothing prepares you for war and leaving everything you knew left behind, including your friends , family and home.
I am proud to say I am the daughter of two amazing individuals who started a brand new life in the UK and took a leap of faith to give me the life I have today and the opportunities I have benefitted from. I am the proud daughter of immigrants , currently completing my MSc in Environment , Politics and Development and I aim to give back one day.
