Margot’s Story

I immigrated to the UK from the US when I was 14 with my parents and sisters. I have lived here for five years since then, and I now am attending a British university to study English literature.
Moving to the UK was one of the first challenges I faced in life, but being in this country has given my mother so many opportunities and blessings we never would have had otherwise.
While here, the NHS helped her through breast cancer, chemotherapy, and her recovery.
I am happy to be an immigrant to this country, but I am well aware that my US background gave me a lot of privilege that many other immigrants don’t receive.
