Jenn’s Story

My Grandfather came to Scotland from Ukraine after the Second World War. He worked in farms with the other Ukrainian men and met my Granny picking tatties (potatoes). He was classed as a “legal alien” in the UK. When Ukraine got independence from ussr in the 90s he returned once to Ukraine to be reunited with his three sisters and mother. His mother and sister Natalka had been taken by the Russians in 1940s and forced to work in salt mines for many years. My family and I have just returned from Ukraine where we visited our family and attended my cousins wedding.
