Daniel’s Story

On both sides my ancestors immigrated to England in the 19th Century from across Eastern Europe. My maternal Grandfather fled to England in the 1930’s. All were forced to seek refuge in this country because they were Jews persecuted in the places they called home.

Some family have moved on from England, most have stayed. With antisemism always lurking, there is always a perennial fear among the Jewish community. The crisis in the Labour Party has frightened many. But England has been kind to the Jews and I hope that, in turn, Jews will always be kind to the immigrant communities who follow.
