The British Library

Catherine’s Story

I came here to settle definitely in 1983 after going back and forth to see Punk bands here in London. I was made redundant at JWT Paris, a large American advertising agency, and I decided to stay in London for good. I still go to Punk gigs, I still work in advertising but Brexit happened and everything has changed. I used to write a successful Punk fanzine, now deposited at the British Library (quelled coincidence) but now I feel like a stranger more than ever. I just wish for a united Ireland, Brexit is the price to pay. So I grin and bear it.
